An evening stroll through the shaded corners of Zilker Botanical Garden to see what is fruiting after the spring rains. May in Austin is usually humid enough to bring out the shelf fungi and ground-dwellers if we look closely at the mulch. This is not a professional survey or a foraging haul, but a low-stakes walk for people who enjoy pointing at interesting growths on rotting logs. We will wander the wooded trails and see how many different species we can find before the light fades, acknowledging that finding nothing but interesting moss is also a valid outcome.
