The Fell Street Off-Beat: Jazz & Improv Social

A gathering for those who appreciate the unpredictable nature of a live quintet and the structured chaos of San Francisco jazz. We’re taking over a few corner booths at Mr. Tipple's to talk shop—or just listen—while navigating the fine line between focused attention and casual banter. Whether you’re a local musician or someone who just likes the way an upright bass feels in a small room, this is a night for low-pressure proximity. We’ll attempt to sync up our arrival with the first set, though if the transit gods or the setlist deviate, we’ll simply improvise along with the band.

  Booth Scouting & First Rounds

  Find the group near the back or the side bar. We’ll establish a home base and get the necessary introductions out of the way before the music demands our full attention.
• 7:45 PM
  Intermission Shop Talk

  As the band takes a breather, we’ll swap opinions on the performance, discuss the local scene, and maybe admit which of us actually knows how to read lead sheets.
• 8:45 PM
  The Second Set & Quiet Departures

  Settle back in for the later riffs. As the night winds down, feel free to drift out during a drum solo or stick around until the house lights signal the end of the session.
